Congratulations to the following Computer Science students who were named to the Dean List for Spring 2006.
The Computer Science Department at the University of Hawaii at Hilo has encouraged its junior and senior students to take the Major Field Achievement Test each spring since 1988. In spring 2005, 19 students took the test.
UHH students have usually performed at or above national norms on the test overall and on each of the subareas. But this year's test-takers outdid themselves! They achieved an overall mean score of 172, placing them in the 90th percentile of the student scores used by ETS this year as the national normative data. Indeed, and I believe this is a first, every single UHH student scored above the national mean of 149.
This overall mean placed UHH in the 95th percentile of the 177 institutional scores making up the national norm. It should be noted that the 95th percentile is the highest ranking reported by ETS, so we are at the top of the chart.
Congratulations to Peter Harnisch, this year's winner of the Daniel G. Fox Prize for Excellence in Computer Science. |
